West Side Story Orpheum Theatre Tickets

West Side Story is a musical with a script by Arthur Laurents, and a plot and story based on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The story is set in New York City in the 1950s and the musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks- two teenage street gangs of different ethnicities. One of the Jets members falls in love with the sister of a Sharks member. The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes and focus on social problems marked a turning point in musical theatre.
