In 1996, the rock band Linkin Park formed in Agoura Hills, California and rose to international fame with their debut album, Hybrid Theory. In 2003, MTV named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best of the new millennium.  Linkin Park quickly adapted the nu metal and rap metal genres to a radio-friendly style with their first two albums before exploring other genres in their third studio album.
