Alternative rock band Foo Fighters originally formed in 1994 by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project. The band got it's name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known as foo fighters. Since the band's inception, they have released seven studio albums, with the most recent Wasting Light released in April.
